Dover Trial: Scopes II??

The current ID gang hardly deserves comparison with the original Scopes Trial.
The notable feature of the Scopes Trial was the figure of William Jennings Bryan, with his legacy of protest against Social Darwinism, whatever his confusions.

Amidst all the fake hoopla a la Inherit The Wind and the Darrow horseplay, which doesn't seem worth a dime anymore, the fact is that Bryan got it straight: Darwin's theory is a fraud, and an ideological weapon in the hands of social elites.
Now that the pre-world war I cultural history has been sanitized the history of Social Darwinism is misunderstood by students at all levels. People who read original sources know better.

So the current putrid conservative/ID gang couldn't hold a candle to Bryan, and we can be sure their religion is a nice front for their rightwing 'prior' committments.
