Anthony Blake link and a software discussion

Doberry comment. Since Dogberry is getting stymied by the comments straightjacket I will quote the comment in a top line post:

Some interesting reflections on Gurdjieff, Bennett, Shah, Lessing, higher powers, dangers of ’seeking’, authoritarian teachers, dialogue, by Tony Blake, here:

The blog format is not really suitable for exploring themes in depth, as comments only surface if you, Nemo, bump them back to the top by creating a new post. And Comment text doesn’t appear in searches. I’ve mentioned Ikbal Ali-Shah twice, but try searching for it.

Thanks for the interesting link, and I recall reading a book by Blake, in the eighties, but I forget the title, it had a lot of interesting historical material.
But first, your statements about the blog format are entirely to the point. Suggest a solution. One thing would be to have people registered and able to submit essays in the main blog section. However, there seems to be a problem with the software on that. So that can wait til I get this software upgraded to the latest version (actually this week, I hope) and maybe we can work on that basis.
But, Dogberry, suggest another answer. I have the database/server memory for any number of software solutions, from mambo cms to bulletin boards. An adjunct blog/discussion forum connected to this one is possible. However, proliferating software solutions dull the focus and the fickle net audience is not likely to respond to New Age themes in a specialized forum, that’s why I blend all kinds of data into one fast-spaced news format. People are here one moment, gone the next, with a new RSS feed at best.
I can also create essay space in a nice format for contributors at history-and-evolution.com, and this would be googled on the spot.
Feed me suggestions. Actually registered users with essays is one easy answer, despite the lightweight character of this version of blog software.

As to the fascinating essay by Blake, it reminds me of the seventies, and it is a fact that, outside of the actual Bennett people, I am one of the few people, it seems, who has read all four volumes of Bennett’s Dramatic Universe. That was a long time ago, and at this point I am persona non grata just about anywhere in those circles (I was unsubbed at deeper_d@yahoogroups.com, which was probably Blake’s doing, so that’s not promising). I have been unsubbed at so many email lists it is almost comical.
I have my own way, and had to work alone without any of these celebrity encounters, and it is interesting (although late in the day) to hear some scuttlebutt about these people. But I am beyond that now, although any material or discussion on this you care to provide is absolutely right on here.

Thanks for the remarks on the comment software.
I will have more to say on this. Maybe I will have to discuss Bennett’s DU at length, but I think it might produce more frowns from the Blakeans.
