Error recognition is such that a partisan opposition is required, that is, when we find ourselves unwilling to embrace our own self criticality. In extreme cases a cognitive dissonance may set it as the opposition looks to be stupid, or worse – liars. The worse error comes when there is no tolerance to hear an opposing voice, and we find examples of a censorship that is said to be above the criticism.

But the heated tension only speaks of a vitality that escapes reason. This is as far as we can go, unless we find ourselves willing to embrace our own vitality that has caused so much revulsion. And it is true that error recognition is essential if evolution is to progress, and so the felt vitality reaches deep into our essence. There must be enough humility to let the spirit escape, and in this great escape we might be able to give witness to our own provisionality.

We are found provisional, and discover beauty in what we leave behind rather than in what we take as we go. Do we volunteer our own failures? Do Darwinists volunteer the limits of their own theory? Error recognition is required on three levels: for induction (the farmer that anticipates a harvest from sound husbandry); deduction (the teacher that explores the world abstraction) and abduction (the preacher that leaves open the possibility of a greater hope).

Does my analysis seem too deep? Think again! I am provisional too! It was already sung in song:

The challenge is to forgive me for revealing my weakness! But the heated passion will tell us something different?

Darwinism should long ago have been ruled an hypothesis and work in progress,a provisional theory. As Popper observed (in what later turned into much nonsense about falsifiability) evolution is difficult to observe, therefore difficult to refute, therefore provisional.
