The underlying brilliance of Spore is the way in which it manages to grow exponentially. It’s difficult for players to predict the breadth of each subsequent stage until they manage to unlock it. With each new stage comes a new form of gameplay to be mastered. Taken individually, any of the stages would make a passable game—but viewed collectively, the depth of the game is downright stunning.
