Religion is superstition based on myth handed down from previous generations. It is clear that a progressive society will ultimately wrestle with the past as the level of education and understanding of the physical world increases and the limits of a particular mythology become self evident.

As a general rule, spirituality is harmless while organized religion perverts the nature of spirituality and codifies it with a dogma that limits free and rational thinking. There is no common ground and there is no being both scientific and religious. Spirituality on the other hand is wholly acceptable and should reflect what people feel about the unknown. Spirituality is a non binding guess that we make in our mind about things we know nothing about and perhaps to give our death meaning or a glimmer of immortality.

I am a scientist and I believe in a reproducible reality (even on a quantum level), I am also spiritual which means that in my free time when I don't have to make sense or be logical I can revel in a silly notion regardless of its validity.

My decisions are based on facts and I never question truth will silly notions that are partly based in mythology and partly based in personal preference.
