“Contra Myers, Jeffrey Schwartz is author of a very good book, Sudden Origins, a very good book, the only book on evolution that ever explained to me how a mutant evolutionary creature could find a mate.â€
This isn’t the same Jeffrey Schwartz. This is the one that Myers’ is talking about:

This is the Jeff Schwartz that you’re talking about:

Your brain in the next battleground.
Contra Myers, Jeffrey Schwartz is author of a very good book, Sudden Origins, a very good book, the only book on evolution that ever explained to me how a mutant evolutionary creature could find a mate.
I am not sure that I can agree in advance with the claims for the collapse of materialism, but the general thrust of Schwartz’ argument points to a point of reckoning for brain science.
No use complaining of dualism (which need not invoke the supernatural), noone has ever resolved the issue, and Karl Popper, we should recall, the man who defines science for its laity, was a dualist in league with Eccles.
More to say here later.
