The need for new referees on the evolution question

Posted in Evolution at 8:23 pm by nemo

The current field of biological evolutionism is somehow out of control and locked into that condition by the very institutions such as peer review that are supposed to guarantee the public some kind of discipline.
A way to approach these questions in a more balanced manner is needed. But who can do it? Not scientists themselves, not academia with its tenure trap and gravy-train temptations.
A new discipline is needed with some factor of independence and with a balanced curriculum, one not controlled by either academia or Big Sci gorilla orgs, with their techno-capitalistic spinoffs that certainly don’t care about science and culture, nor for that matter conservative/religious lobbies (we know who).

There are no simple solutions to the evolution question (as a study of the eonic effect makes clear), but at least we could acknowledge that and stop the ‘world domination’ trip that scientists are inflicting on general culture.
We should acknowledge that even as we converge on science we limit our consideration of the whole, and produce a warped result. This result is daily visible in the fractured commentary of aggressive reductionists playing the scientific game with the kind of smart stupidity characteristic of that cadre.
The religious revolt is an omen, but it is not a solution.
What is needed is some independent scholarly/scientific body that can commence a project of universal history and culture that actually looks at the complexities of human society and is free of the mentality of physicalist junk science that is being foisted on the totality of human situations, with dumb Darwinism used as the main propaganda prop.
As things stand now with the Darwin debate as a symptom modern culture is at risk, while all its elite intellectuals remain oblivious even to the existence of the difficulty.
At the rate things are going modern culture can go no further til the problem is corrected.
The Al Qaeda are licking their chops, indeed the whole Islamic world sees, or thinks it sees, their opportunity. Nope. That won’t help.
I think the failure is not that of modernity, but of the way any phenomenon can contract, as modernity did with the sudden appearance and virulent spread of Darwinism. The problem is correctable, though, apparently, not by scientists, or academia (let’s forget the Al Qaeda).
so who?
clock ticking on the scientific idiot.
