Can Darwinism explain buddha nature in dogs?
The previous post discussed Arnhart’s discussion of the Templeton conference discussions of the question, “Can evolution explain human nature?”
Does evolution explain human nature?
Beware of anyone who claims to be able to explain human nature!
The question is insoluble/undecidable, for good Buddhist reasons:
To understand human nature fully you must explore the ‘path to enlightenment’. But the so-called ‘condition of enlightenment’ leads to awareness of the cycle of rebirths, and then passage beyond that. Therefore knowledge of human nature in time is probably at best a brief experience in the last incarnation of those who live in time. The rest is delusion.
In any case, you know, I assume, the point of the title of this post: the famous koan, does a dog have buddha nature?
