WSWS on the Darwin debate
From wsws.org: Marx and Darwin: Two great revolutionary thinkers of the nineteenth century
We cited this already today. We have commented many times on the Marx/Darwin fixation of the left, and here is the most recent post on the subject, an old webpage from history-and-evolution.com.

More tired defense of Darwin and denunciation of the religious right deserves a shrug at this point.
And more than a shrug. The ‘left’ that we see now is incapable of doing its job, which should be to expose the ideology of Darwinism for what it is.
But the anti-religious obsession of the left coopts this possibility. That the left should have arisen post-Feuerbach as a critic of religion is all to the good, but the result was the improverished scientism of the post-Hegelian generation, a vice that was catching, and which has made the left blinkered ever since.
The fact of the matter is that the failure of the left here to expose Darwinian ideology has forced the issue to default to religious critics, who have bungled the anti-Darwin critique with their design/creationist tinted lenses.
In the link above, we recall the clear initial rejection by Marx of the natural selection argument, testimony to his acute insight and intelligence. The constant distortion of the record here by the ‘left’ should be a warning we have no left at this point.
