Karen Armstrong wages a vigorous war on the twin evils of religious fundamentalism and militant atheism, says Alain de Botton
I am always baffled at the media praise received by a figure as mendacious and deceitful as Karen Armstrong, as she is dubbed a ‘religous expert’. That must be a curious judgment on the times, an age that has become totally ignorant on the subject of religion. But, oh well… Idiots can be experts, then.
Perhaps it is because she is really a crypto-atheist, a nihilist in disguise, who can grind up religious sausage as a PR exercise.
Atheists, or at least secularists, should be glad: religion can last long in the hands of such people.
This hypocrisy is sickening, and the public should be wary of the obvious media blitz over her new book: it is just the right kind of high-priced trash to confuse the public, Armstrong’s forte.
