Armstrong’s upside down history
Religion is not about belief….
In The Case for God, Karen Armstrong explains that until the modern period, the major Western monotheisms all concerned themselves primarily with practice, the doing of religion, rather than doctrine.
That, in fact, is a brazen distortion of the history of religion, Christianity at leat.
The distinction of orthodoxy and orthopraxy is nonsense: an attempt to bring some of the clarity of, say, Buddhism to sterile Christian/monotheism belief religion.
