Depression manufactured? Only to the extent that the depressed see themselves as victims, and are depressed for this reason alone. Faith in big medicine may prescribe victimhood to reinforce the faith. Likewise, faith in Darwinism and scientism may prescribe a type of intellectual victimhood to keep its canard standing while maintaining its perpetual war with “creationists.”
Has noone ever heard of meditation?
Medical treatments of psychological states have a severe ambiguity, but I agree that ‘depression’ as a clinical condition is better treated with a medical approach.
But in general the legacy of meditation is the ‘culture of treatment’ for the human psyche, which is subject to ‘leaks of consciousness’ that can be best repaired by psychological, not chemical, means.
Unfortunately the meaning of ‘meditation’ has been degraded to near vacuousness by the current culture. So meditation generally doesn’t work.
