Although this is a problem with Christianity, which puts so much emphasis on ‘belief’, it is a gateway not to anti-religion or atheism, but a more intelligent form of religion, not based on belief.

Big Science should be embarrassed that it is still arguing with the Bible Belt after all of these years. It is all fine and well to critique stale religions but replacing this with the McDonalds fast food atheism of Dawkins, Dennett, Hitchens, etc. is not an advance. We see a generation that is absolutely tired (understandably) of decayed religious institutions and desperate for some intellectual fresh air; these young minds are very impressionable (the fact that Maher’s Religulous is considered to be a serious critique of religion should be troubling) and are being taken advantage of and manipulated by technocratic Pied Pipers who promise them more flat screen TVs and video game consoles. These contemporary atheists don’t seem to realize that the Darwinian atheism they espouse is the mirror image of the simple minded theism that they mock and has the ability to hypnotize many people with its oversimplifications and lack of substance.
