The Pope is a fraud, but Dawkins Darwinism is far worse than catholicism
The current attack on Catholicism is in many ways a parody (but no doubt par for the course anyway) of the eighties attack on Christianity in the Rajneesh world, and the New Age movement. But there is an important difference: those critiques had an understanding of the issues of religion and its history, where the impoverished game of the New Atheists has nothing to contribute to the discussion except the most superficial scientism and the false foundation of Darwinism.
The result is a tremendous lost opportunity whose main result is a new fanaticism in Dawkins groupies, and a second rate atheism that is unworthy of its tradition.
