Now given my mere definitions above, it is impossible to determine which of the two ideologies is better than the other. This determination is impossible because an actual appraisal depends on concrete circumstance, and my essay is not about circumstances. I offer no particulars that will separate the two. My essay is about generalities, and not particularities that may favor one ideology over the other.
Note, however, that ideologues can`t disclose my openness. To the ideological collectivist, collectivism is always right and libertarian greed is the source of all the world`s problems. To the ideological libertarian, libertarianism is always right and heavy handed collectivist regulation is the source of all the world`s problems. The ideologue has become fixated to one side of the polarity, even ossified, and comes with a world-view that is almost always one-sided.
How does all of this relate to Trinitarian philosophy?
To answer this question we must return to Kant`s third antinomy: where it is possible to argue that freewill is real; or argue that everything in nature is merely an expression of universal causation. Kant argued incorrectly that one could argue both sides of the antinomy with equal validity while leaving a conflict that could not be resolved. But the conflict can be resolved using Trinitarian logic: the two-sided antinomy is no longer conflicted when a middle-term is found holding the two sides together.
Note also that the ideological polarity given by collectivism and libertarianism represents exactly Kant`s third antinomy: the libertarian will argue that freewill is real; whereas the collectivist will prefer a universal causation.
We are close to understanding the nature of the middle-term that holds the polarity together. Libertarians and collectivists will fight each other, and because they are each stuck with a one-sided ideology, their interaction will likely become heated. What is revealed now is naked emotionality, as the ideologues continue to equivocate and refuse to see the logic in the opposing view. In fact, the emotionality is so intense that the ideologues are blinded, and are forever ossified in their joint positions.
To resolve this conflict is to transcend above ideology. It is to resolve Kant`s third antinomy on intuitionist grounding, and is to enter into Trinitarian philosophy. Now it is possible to bring evidence forward that may reveal better value in collectivists and libertarians working together.
