Bad to worse: from Xtianity to New Atheism

Vampire of Xtianity in pursuit of New Agers trying to escape
The previous post was a bit hard on Christianity, but the view expressed is one that is expressed by many gurus of the New Age movement whose slant was/is to energize the occupants of pews (‘the saved’) to give up the safety of shore for a journey onto the high seas of consciousness. In general the point is that a religion like Christianity only ‘saves you’, strange pun, and does’t allow you to develop spiritually. So it may be time to move on, without a trace of guilt for simply walking away from these prisons of the faithful.
At that point, of course, you are on your own moving over difficult terrain.

But now we have a new development in the false secularism of such cults as that of the New Atheists plying a disguised variant of the Christian syndrome: no development possible, keep the victim trapped in a cocoon of reductionist scientism. In many ways the entrapment here is worse than that of Christianity.
