Punctuated Equilibrium

Followers of the sage of an age of revelation are confused by their own mythology. But the ‘secular’ rejection of the whole corpus of history is also misleading. The Axial Age phenomenon, as an exhibit of ‘punctuated equilibrium’ (to use the words as dictionary items, not in Gould’s rendering), is far better than the god delusions that have been foisted on the data.
