Why should we be confident in the authority of science? Don’t be!!! Scientists lie to promote ideology

Here is another of Harris’ questions:
Why should we be confident in the authority of science?
Answer, we should not be confident in the authority of science?
Science is not properly defined here. Physics, at least, is subject to a good experimental regime. But most other subjects are not so well controlled. As we ascend the scale, we encounter, chemistry, good controls, but as we approach biology, the issues become ambiguous, and with evolution we are in the realm of near metaphysics, and the hype factor is large.
What is science, then? Is Darwinism science? Is psychoanalysis science? Is mathematical economics science? Is the new atheism science? (Throw this in: Are the classic metaphysical issues in Kant science?)
Is biology, given the legacy of Darwinism, fully a science?
Is history a science? Etc….
Science has no truly scientific theory of evolution, is prone to ideology, outright deceptions, and suspected economic propaganda motivations.
Correct observational methodology is absent in the promotion of Darwinism.
As a test of basic honesty, we should consider the findings of scholars on the Darwin/Wallace plagiarism issue (cf. The Darwin Conspiracy, by Roy Davies): the scentific community is clearly unable to establish the truth of who actually produced one of its main theories, lies about it en masse, and restrains public commentary.
That should be a reminder that scientists are not even trustworthy as to telling the truth. They have produced one of the most vicious theories of evolution, Darwinian natural selection, under suspicion of indirect promotion of ideological issues, despite the wealth of critical commentary.
So the mistrust should be complete: it is a life and death issue. The legacy of eugenic genocide is a part of the mistrust.
