Netbook: Last and First Men
This is an old netbook from 2007, Last and First Men, and also the titular theme of the redfortyeight.com site, now for OWS posting (mostly).
I am going to withdraw this netbook soon, and turn it into a book, following one that is on the way: Descent of Man Revisited, which is almost done, and to be published this spring.
The Last and First Man theme will make a good second volume, and deal with issues of culture, politics, and history, beyond the basic ‘eonic model’. The term ‘eonic’ is being retired, as being counterproductive, and I think that in any case, people have gone from suspicious skepticism to ‘what else is new’ concerning the ‘eonic effect’, to be called hence forth, the ‘macro effect’, or the evidence of historical evolution, or the non-random in world history, etc…
The idea of the Last and First Man is from the book by Olaf Stapleton, with a pun on Nietzsche’s Last Man, who is a fiction of Nietzsche’s reactionary anti-modernism.
In any case, this netbook gives a good fast summary of the issue of evolution in history. I will leave it online a few more days…
