Noam Chomsky: America’s Decline Is Real — and Increasingly Self-Inflicted
This is important stuff, but we have heard this from Chomsky before. If the decline indicated is of ’empire’ then that isn’t decline, but a sign of real social health.
The real decline, and here Chomsky tends to reject 9/11 conspiracy theories, is the hidden fascism that has taken over the real democracy via covert operations stretching back to the end of the Second World War, and the hidden coup d’etat of the newly created intelligence agencies, so ineptly allowed to cancerate by President Truman, who came to a sense of dread after the JFK asssassination, as he realized what he had created, now bearing bitter fruit in the covert (and still misunderstood) assissination plot against JFK. Our leftist circuit is still confused on this issue, and the latest phase of ‘decline’ began to accelerate with the 9/11 conspiracy, from a hidden sector close to the government able to control the system of government indirectly and to rig the final phases of the calamitous rightward turn of the past decade. This is a complex form of ‘decline’ indeed, and it is shocking the left cannot even begin to study this phenomenon.
So Chomsky is right, righter than he knows, but still a dupe of the government he so strongly criticizes.
And that is a puzzle in such an intelligent man.
