Hyprocrisy of Chinese critiques of democracy

October 25th, 2012 · No Comments

New issue of China Left Review: “Democracy: Critiques and Prospects”

The inability of Chinese (communist) political theorists to embrace democracy has vitiated, ironically, the entire effort to create communism.
The critique of Western democracy, as in the USA, has been implicit in a lot of our economic discussions, but our suggestions about a New Communism have always made clear this involves democracy rather than the monstrosities of one-party politics.
It is a unfair to blame the cooptation of democracy by economic elites on democracy itself.

Our suggestions about New Communism must be based on the demand that Chinese Communism be scrapped.

Meanwhile, the complicity in the destruction of American democracy by doing the dirty work of labor suppression for the capitalist mafia is a sorry tale, and the hypocrisy of these scholarly critiques is truly colossal.
