We commented already on the BHASKAR SUNKARA article but this analysis at SW is important. We have cited passages from Harrington’s Socialism here, a useful book, that one might disagree with, but his views are problematical. But he critiqued the Stalinist brand of communism, even as he made a useful study of Marx after 1848. But his failure to support the anti-war groups of the seventies show how he was falling from relevance. Again his book Socialism is a useful read (check the archives with ‘Harrington socialism’ in the search box for a long scanned text from his book. I was not fully familiar with his legacy in citing him here, so this SW article is useful.
