Core chapter of LFM online for a short time //To the Fukuyama’s of the capitalist world: you can use propaganda to murder a planet

I am putting the core second chapter of Last and First Men online. I got some good feedback with the Preface and this will happen again with this part of the book.
In a way the new model of history is massively complex and will create a new mentality in marxists: you can’t propose theories of history and expect people to believe you.
The so-called macro model is basically an outline of history, and a good way to look at the suspected dynamics. Try to drop the materialist view for a ‘contextual’ chronicle that transcends material/spiritual distinctions. The data follows a specific model very well, but you can stay with the general outline and look at economies in an historical context…./
The main issue is to dispose of the dangerous and now almost unconscious obsession with Fukuyama’s ‘end of history’ meme, one of the most delusive and dangerous pieces of hype in motion in the realm of ideology.
The text is almost ready, but has some problems. The opening image is the rare early daguerrotype of the barricades in Paris 1848!

As with the Preface, the pdf doesn’t make clear what will be obvious in the hardbound book: many of the pages on the right are textboxes. The main text proceeds on the next following page.

[…] http://darwiniana.com/2013/12/01/core-chapter-of-lfm-online-for-a-short-time/ The consideration of communism has to be the most important discussion we can have at this juncture when capitalism has been allowed to assume de facto fascist control of the state. We need to act now, because the power to act is being steadily put in check. We can no longer discuss the issue of government change without being overheard by the surveillance state. The endgame needs to be forestalled asap, as a renewed proof of our freedoms. In the previous post the OWS folks only go as far as ‘anti-capitalism’: fair enough. It is an important emphasis because the period of piecemeal activism is reaching a crisis point: we are going to pretend to act in a global crisis, and at the end we will have accomplished nothing while the powers of the capital-dominated state will be a de facto totalitarianism. Last and First Men tries to suggest that a rewrite of communism, with or without marxism, could energize the idea for a new set of activist initiatives. The initiative is 1. global, moving toward a global response to out-of-control globalization 2. local/national in the search for decentralization in the context of global centralization. The value of the communist legacy is the way it has in potential this double aspect of global/local. All of this is already occurring, willynilly, and unless we adopt a strong response in self-defense, it will be against democracy and freedom. We can see better now that democracy in the context of capitalism is a contradiction, one that is growing steadily worse. So we need to see, after endlessly distracting propagandas otherwise, that the current definitions of ‘democracy’ are a sleight of hand, a sentiment very much in evidence in the period leading up and after the period 0f 1848, when the legacy of the French Revolution demonstrated the swindle in detail. We need to get beyond the distracting theories of marxism to the practical issues of (marxism!) recomputed for a new stage of economy and society. […]
