Physicists oblivious as they stumble into Kantian antinomies

May 24th, 2014 · No Comments

This is another version of a classic antinomy of Kant, and it is remarkable that (in a week when Tyson is berated for rejecting philosophy) discussion remains oblivious to the Kantian legacy. The question, of course, might be answered in some fashion by physics, but it seems doubtful. Whatever the case it is part of the main avenue opened up toward ‘transcendental idealism’, that misleading term that chases many away. The point here is that these antinomies demand the basic framework of TI, with its absorption of the subjectivity into the mind’s projections of space-time.
