I think that activists are getting desperate: they can’t create any movements. Whatever the case, this article seems to show the way constant efforts are redefinition are pointless. I agree with the mood here, but in the end the same tired references to Gandhi suggest that past legacies are sterile at this point. Gandhi-isn’t going to do it at this point.
I think that the lessons of the early modern revolutions, those that achieved modern freedoms, suggest that armed revolution is the only way. Keep in mind that, the civil rights movement apart, gandhian records have almost no tales of success. The struggle for Indian independence was not a gandhian achievement.
