Last and First Men: history, dynamics, and economic systems

September 25th, 2014 · No Comments

The style of WHEE, as noted in previous post, along with a tenuated version of its ‘model’, is used in Last and First Men to create a larger dimension to historical analysis that can ride both the spiritual and material conceptions of different social groups who can use a generalized ‘marxism’ to discuss economics/capitalism/communism in a neutral language that has no axe to grind on issues of materialism, determinism, etc… The insights of people like Marx and Engels don’t really depend on assumptions of materialism, although the critique of the effect of ‘religion’ on issues of autonomy, class, and ideology can remain open to discussion (without the general confusion created by theistic/atheistic debates).
