Students of capitalism, including marxists, consistently misjudge the dynamic of capitalism in history. The marxist approach can’t resolve the determination of economic systems, especially capitalism, with the free agency of its participants.
The macro model of WHEE suggests that capitalism is best explained with its stream and sequence analysis, many times explored here. This allows us to see that a continuous emergence of capitalism suddenly overamps and takes off near the ‘divide’ of the modern transition. The counterpoint of socialism/communism emerges in parallel.
Capitalism thus has no overwhelming determinist logic. Failure to grasp this has made capitalism’s grosser features seem inevitable. That’s baloney. The whole game should have been carefully challenged from the start.
