From civilization to the plot of a bad spy novel

The decline of the American system is an alarming indicator of the need for something more general than an economic fix: the larger legacy of communism must be in the means to generate/regenerate whole civilizations, and that is no mean task, to put it mildly. But the whole concept of ‘revolution’ points to this as a modern invention/discovery. We need something more adequate that the concept of ‘civilization’, which is too diffuse and unwieldy. Last and First Men shows the key distinction of macro/micro needed to think in terms of ‘relative transformations’ of civilizations.
We need to study the sudden disease of Machiavellian politics that has overtaken the American ‘so-called’ republic. Legacy communists/bolsheviks are too much part of the problem to provide its solution. But the larger neo-communist idea can easily be adapted to thie larger question, even as the transition to postcapitalism comes to the fore. There are plenty of ways to be a third rate civilization which is where the US is headed. A full ‘revolution’ are regenerated civilization can free the system from its current degenrration into the plot of a bad spy novel.
