The Axial Age and affluence?

This is such an obvious effort to reduce the Axial Age to sociological explanation of a very unconvincing kind that I would simply pass on with a wave. The issue of wealth, however, is clear in buddhism between Gautama the rich prince and the age of the begging bowl. But the traditions of buddhism far predated the Axial period, and this undermines the thesis.
