We have been harping on the subject of Samkhya, but the reality is that its study (on my part…) is historical. And our criticism of Chopra might forget that noone can get samkhya straight, hence the interest in general jawboning on mystical physics.
But the reality remains that Samkhya is perhaps the only cosmological model uniting physics and issues of consciousness that we have. Eclectic speculations like those of Chopra never succeed, while the general science tenor is understandable wariness, but then a retreat into a shell of reductionism.
We can hope that sooner or later neuroscience will impinge on the issues of complex consciousness, but until then we are forced to be wary of the confusions of scientism.
Current scientific knowledge is a hopeless mess on issues of psychology, states of consciousness, and most scandalous, evolutionary theory.
