Reconsider Dawkins’ confusion in the light of hour simple statement on the issue of ‘god’. The basic conception of ‘god/no-god’ are the same in the end, and this is reflected in the formulation of Schopenhauer.
I often wonder why Dawkins is so obsessed with ‘atheism’, with ‘god’. One answer as we have said is that in the wake of the modern transition postivism, scientism and darwinism displaced a larger transition to modernity, and the result is the confusion created by figures like Dawkins. The larger framework of the modern ‘dialectic’ was lost. The issue of ‘god’ at this point is not really worth debating in the fashion now current.
The progression of the debate is fairly simple:
science tends to debunk the myths of religion (in the Occident)
the infantile versions of god imagination begin to seem ridiculous and to discredit belief
a new equally false obsession arises negating the simpler forms of theism.
This progression can never arrive at anything. It rightly displaces infantile monotheism, and then grinds to a halt.
