Ditching mindfulness, and demanding psychotherapy come in a free version

May 9th, 2015 · 2 Comments

This is an interesting article, but at the same time it is exactly as predicted: the privatization of ‘religion’ under the aegis of commercial psychotherapy.

This trend is going to get stronger and stronger but I think we can resolve the issue in one way by simply ditching mindfulness, in this isolated case.

The realm of psychotherapy in the wake of Freud is an enormous ripoff. It is important to stand up this tremendously expensive swindle, with clear exceptions for psychiatric/medical contexts…

A free version of Freudian analysis was invented long ago (Karen Horney). This is open to challenge, but the fact remains that the expense of therapy is outrageous.

Same old “mindfulness” bullish*t peddled by these snake oil salesmen who don’t understand any of it (a lot of the Theravada world outside of Burma considers Mahasi/U Pandita teachings to be bogus). The anatta doctrine is quite a bit more subtle than Sam Harris types with their erroneous notions that the “self” is cause of all problems:
