Munzerian xtianity….notes toward a world religion…

June 25th, 2015 · No Comments

I am not a religious prophet but having experienced the incompetence of so many new age gurus I can’t see how I could do worse. I can fill the slot better than they, I bet. If not, no harm done, discard the attempt: paper airplane.

1. we need a new spiritual initiative able to work from the left
2. the questions of theism are ‘eternal’, yet played out in the wake of Xtianity. We need a therapeutic atheism with a way to either reinvent god or redeinvent god. My ‘edge of space’ antinomial approach and/or the hyper-theistic IHVH can do the trick. We can’t resolve the god question, so obsessives on both sides are due for…many years in the Zen slammer.
3. we need to explore the paths of the will and the paths of being: xtianity/Islam vis a vis the dharmic legacy (e.g. buddhist)
4. the path to, through and from ‘religion’ must reckon with modernity which is a version of the Axial Age and ten times more energized than the original. But it is so complex that oversimplifications like scientism will prove endemic. A classic burnout is classical marxism which adopted bad science, no free will, no ethics, economic fundamentalism…
5. The attempt to make science dominate will fail. Social darwinism vis darwinism and pseudo-economics using advanced math are two strikes against science. Strike three? But of course we need to nurse this sick patient along, until we get to the real ‘sciences’ as advertised in Star Trek…
6. It is important to agree/disagree with frantic pleas for ‘secularism’ by secular humanists. But there is no reason given the Reformation foundation to modernity to accept the recent distortion of the term to mean or imply ‘atheism’. The secular needs to be redefined with a hypercomplex spectrum assembly of the many counterpoints to modernity. This is not defined by any stance on theism/atheism…

7…the two core concerns are the nature of consciousness and the cosmological equivalent to god, from a Kantian perspective…
The questions of will, meditation, self-consciousness, etc… need to be central…

there is a lot more. But the basic ideas are there. In a way the secular humanists are right: we don’t need ‘religions’, if they are of the type of the axial age. We can look at the richness and the balance in the true secular instead. But over and over this is going to get hijacked by obsessive one-dimensional perspectives…
8. most eager aspirants are getting fried in the boundary of the path of will and the path of being…
Such a new synthesis is needed as a vehicle toward a society of postcapitalism…we need a repaired equivalent to marxism here…
