If we are bent on a neo-communism as a post-marxist future politics we cannot necessarily abandon completely the spastic political melodrama of ‘socialists’ like Sanders. It is at first a dilemma, which way to go. I cannot pontificate here, but when I wrote Last and First Men I resolved not to end up in tear-jerker further get-our-man-elected charades especially given the Obama version which closed the genre for me. A resolve to quietly pursue reconstructive post-capitalist patently/latently neo-communist game plans was set to resist the Scylla/Charybdis lures of the American politician non-system. One can thus observe acutely the Sanders style effort (out of the blue, that’s of interest) without unlearning things learned the hard way.
The tide is turning, at least, and the era of neo-liberalism is beginning finally to stir its own opposition. But we are out of time for another Obama. We can watch the tragicomedy but not lose more time from the need for a post-capitalist world.
