The term ‘mechanical’ is not adequate to evolutionary discussion

The ID group’s answer to the question of the ‘mechanism’ of ‘intelligent design’ is a bit facile, given the boobhood of those asking. The core issue is, howvever, clearly almost on target…it may be impossible to get the issue straight…

To me, instead of contrasting material explanation (with…?) we can contrast, using Schopenhauer, phenomenal and ‘noumenal’ (S. did not use the term). We see clear design in the macro effect (which could be intelligent, agent based, or hyper-mechanical) but we don’t necessarily contrast material ans spiritual.
The macro effect isn’t really a ‘mechanism’, unless we have mechanisms for creative action….
