The fate of commercialized buddhism is probably foretold in the ‘Prosperity Gospel’ movement: the dangers of these hybrids are suddenly obvious: once you introduce sugar into the product the prior product will be lost because it will become expected, and then demanded.
But christianity works just as well among poor people, too exploited and not able to make use of a ‘prosperity gospel’. This factor will be eliminated.
To be fair, this vice began in the Reformation and the dialectic of a communist and capitalist xtianity is part of the historical record. Until the communist brand was extinguished.
We should demand its restoration, and the expose of properity gospels as perversions of xtianity.
But the reality is better to simply dump xtianity…
