The current crisis sees an active OWS, a Sanders ‘socialist’ campaign, but nothing from the revolutionary left. That’s not surprising, given the dangers, the overwhelming power of the powers that be, and the mechanization of thought that has overtaken the marxist core that dominates opinion.
It wouldn’t be hard to change this situation. The frozen state of marxism can be reenergized by concentrating on what it got right, and dispensing with theories. The revolutionaries of the classic revolutions did not have theories: they had projects, that’s it, revolutionary projects.
With marxism it might help to
set aside historical materialism as a resource in the background
use Kantian socialism to reestablish free agency as an historical reality
set aside darwinism as a capitalist ideology
find a broad humanistic view of history that can actually deal with its religious, philosophic, aesthetic, and other multiple factors.
communication channels with religious legacies with a new redefinition of secularism…
It is impossible for the majority to even discuss marxism without triggering heresy trial mode in the faithful. Small wonder the majority no longer listen to Marx…
