We were very hard on Chomsky and his group, but what is on offer is not good enough, for me. But we have to leave such activists to themselves and try to create the foundation for something more.
They are very clear that they reject ‘state socialism’, but that is actually too extreme. We cannot let the social democrats appropriate the term ‘socialism’ and ‘revolution’ and reject the real meanings of the terms.
We have proposed many variants here, recently versions of ‘market communism’ which refers to a constitutional or axiomatic starting point in which the large-scale industrial apparatus of the bourgeoisie passes back into the Commons.
We are thus at the starting point for a new form economy which we must create. To reject it in toto is a gross error. It is very unlikely that the limited activism of Chomsky et al will prove sufficient.
