The amount squandered by the Sandernistas ($200,000,000) could have helped save socialism in Venezuela

It is in part counterproductive to harrangue the Sandernistas, but let us at least demand that the term ‘revolution’ be understood to refer to a complete regime chance and a new form of government, socialist to be specific. Having used the term Sanders and his group have to face the reality of what is a part of the lore of that term. This is slightly unfair since the scrambled usage has always accompanied the term. But ‘progressives’ have not generally used the term ‘socialims’ or ‘revolution’. To coopt those terms must raise the question of sincerity and intent.

Let me note a few things: revolution must confront globalization and the international environment where ‘socialism’ has its true meaning. Consider Venezuela’s revolution. Are the Sandernistas, now that they have embraced Clinton, going to embrace the US’s covert actions against that revolution in progress? The amount of money squandered on the Sanders campaign could have assisted the real revolution in Venezuela, along the lines of soup kitchens, cafeterias for an economy being sabotaged by Washington. What is the nature of ‘socialism’ here, and what is the stance of the manifold of groups. The term socialism refers to this international context, and the obvious suspicion is that Sanders’ initiative was just a swan song to assuage his guilt before retiring to his new vacation home…
