This was a very strong post, more of a swipe at the US (Is the Us a hyaena? Actually yes, given the evidence of the last twenty years) than Islam, but the point was nonetheless clearly made that there is a curious epochal trend past the religions of the Axial Age. Islam could so easily create a secular version with some profound aspects taken from sufism, but the whole series of cultures are stuck in the past, and ironically unable to make much use of their own resources.
But it is important for Moslems with vision to lead the whole civilization into a new future. The obsession with a spent tradition is the bane of all religions and with Islam the problem is especially acute because it received its doses of modernity second hand.
As to the US, ‘hyaena’ is the right term after the 9/11 conspiracy, the Iraq war, etc… and Israel is even worse.
