At the moment of the Royal Society conference on evolution, with its predicted debates over extending darwinism versus scrapping the whole paradigm, the perspective of WHEE:history and evolution.com can be useful and this set of selections tries to summarize as briefly as possible the range of issues.
We can approach the question via a critique of natural selection, as in this book. But we can also use the larger argument of WHEE based on history to produce a high-level critique that is useful because it bypasses the question of genetics which confuses biologists. We must suspect a teleology of evolution that operates beyond the level of genetics. And the discussion of world history gives an insight into how this can happen.
