 WHEE and the analysis of progress

We can’t see progress across world history because the scales are confusing: we must clock the whole five thousand years since Egypt/Sumer, and consider its extension before that…At this scale it is clear that progress is definably real but that at this scale retrograde action is also very real. If we isolate our analysis we are liable to be confused by the fact that after the Axial interval decline set it, etc… But on the scale of five thousand, then ten thousand years this retrograde tendency is clearly offset by overall progress (to be defined) or bare progression…

Humans invented it—and not that long ago.
