In an era of climate catastrophe, what is the status of prosperity economics? //Goal Of Socialists Is Socialism, Not Prosperity – OpEd – Eurasia Review

Our discussion/promotion of democratic market neo-communism needs to confront and discuss with an open hand the dreary and voluminous/cliched literature ‘debunking’ socialism, etc…Here we can debate/acknowledge the idea that the goal of socialism is socialism, not prosperity. First, in our particular formulation there is absolutely no reason why we can’t have a prosperous economy in our particular mix of markets, communist assumptions, and a three sector economy. But at this point we confront the harsh reality that climate catastrophe, looming as the spoiler for prosperity economics, is going to make the socialist emphasis more important than properity: we need a steady state economic system able to promote the net equivalent of prosperity under conditions of postcarbon social reality…
