Toward a New Manifesto

We need to face the real difficulty we confront in the challenge of movement building: the rising crisis of climate change is undermining the logic of capitalist legitimation, but it is also moving the left beyond its traditional working class focus. We are stuck in an impossible situation where a degree of sacrifice is demanded as the imperatives of post-growth economics makes the traditional appeals to the working class problematical. The solution is more than social democratic pleading: the moment arrives for a revolutionary change to a new form of social economy. and there the crisis will have to ask for the economic futures of all in a system that is losing its capitalist foundations. We must at least propose at the sidelines more than a movement to champion the working class: we must provide a postcapitalist transition that ensures basic economic rights in an increasingly tight ecological impasse: the only solution is a revolutionary transformation of a totality…
