I recommend a long and thorough look at the eonic effect and then the eonic model’s take on the ‘modern transition’: this section of WHEE shows the complexity of modernism and is itself an oversimplification despite pointing to hundreds of aspects/books/ of the modern genesis…
The question of eurocentrism threatens to confuse the issue: the eonic model tries to show how the modern transition was related to its idea of a frontier effect (check out the full analysis of the model). As much as we might like to we can’t really equate capitalism and eurocentrism. Is Voltaire the source of imperialism?
