This energetic initiative has our support speaking from the perspective of the ‘Red Forty-eight Group’ and yet at the same time our perspective has been that of the seemingly impractical revolutionary outsider critical of the floundering ‘socialisms’, including even the DSA’s supposed sudden popularity: 10K new members is still closer to ‘zero’ than to a viable leftist movement.
We should obviously nonetheless support this efforts at essentially ‘electoral socialism’ which can however at most produce a social democratic platform of tidbits. They hardly need this sermon since they fully understand the point. But the legacy of habit haunts these movements: the usual jargon about the working class fails to consider that the populist right has purloined the working class–maybe, and that the usual ‘third party’ aspiration is mostly in vain.
The key issue at this point is the need for an aggressive, revolutionary response to the immense crime against humanity being perpetrated on the front of climate change, in fact, climate catastrophe…
