R48G: marxist.com’s obsessive and dated marxism…

June 23rd, 2017 · No Comments

This article is typical in many ways of the dated marxist framework and dwells on a nearly encyclopedic list of the obsessions of the past:

lumping Hobbes, Locke, Kant and Hegel together as bourgeois ideologists isn’t really helpful, although with Locke it is clear enough, and with Kant and Hegel we see a recognition of the new age of capitalism. But Kant is in some ways one of the sources of socialism in seed form, etc…The study of ideology is botched here, it seems, and we end up with a pretense of marxist cliches…
The problem with this approach is that by rejecting everyone as bourgeois in the Before Marx and After Marx we end with the impoverished philosophy of marxism with its dialectical drivel, historical materialism, a narrow study of culture, religion, and politics, and the rest of it.

We have suggested the need for a radical ‘exodus’ from standard marxism, a complete recasting of the whole perspective. I fear these marxists won’t listen and at this point we need to appeal to a new generation, a sort of core postmarxism for the OWS mentality….\\

And we have also suggested dropping the cult worship term ‘marxism’ to demand a more general name beyond the obsession with Marx and the Holy Prophet of the Canon….
