Red Fortyeight Group: Munzerian Xtianity and as a ‘church of historical reflection’
February 24th, 2016 ·
In discussing marxism and religion

I have not attempted to graft some sentimental religiosity on the left (with its often equally excessive and dated materialism). Far from it. All the left has to do is to bring intelligent dialogue to a set of facts about the early modern, and the way the first xtians of the Reformation actually seeded a communist movement. And the participation of xtians of the Reformation in, for example, the seminal English Civil War, and then abolitionism, forces the issue of giving such rights to a revolutionary participation in a revolution beyond capitalism. There are lost of ways to harmonize a discordance here, and a church of historical reflection is one way: remaining aware of the reality of religious history in the case of social transformation.
Christians themselves can proceed in any way they want here: how about an xtian church of Munzer with revolutionary potential as per the quakers (who were able to work with secularists without fanatic obsessions). It is ‘your move’ there for ‘real time xtians’.
