marxists braindead on the 9/11 conspiracy…it deserves to decline…head out of your ass please//Could Punching Nazis Have Prevented Hitler From Taking Power

I hope the left and the likes of Cockburn and Chomsky find this infuriating. Their stupidity on this question shows we have no real left.

This piece shows one of the clues to the puzzle of 9/11 conspiracy theory denialism that has disgraced the left, and marxists. The fact of the matter is that the issue of 9/11 and the mysterious conspiracy of Israel and the US deep state (whatever that is) constitutes a fumbled football for almost all sectors of the left and the failure of marxists here is almost a deserved fate given the blindness to the criminality of the US on this question. But figures like Cockburn and Chomsky represent a puzzle: how did the clear evidence of 9/11 conspiracy get factored out of discussion on the left?

The decline of marxism is the result of neo-liberal advance, confusion over the ‘end of history’ and its successful propaganda via e.g. Fukuyama (and the failure of marxists to analyze it), and most of all the legacy of bolshevism. Or maybe there are other factors. But this analysis re: 9/11 is almost completely cockeyed and shows marxists have lost their grip.
Let’s recommend our multiple efforts at reaching a new postmarxist upgrade. It is urgently needed and clearly the likes of Cockburn are part of the decline (was he a marxist, in fact?) of cogent activism on the left. The issue of theory versus street tactics is no doubt valid but at this point marxist theory is clearly inadequate, as pointed out here over and over again….

On November 28, 2006 Alexander Cockburn wrote an article titled “The 9/11 Conspiracists and the Decline of the American Left” that interpreted the rise of conspiracism as the result of a dwindling number of leftists learning “their political economy from Marx via the small, mostly Trotskyist groupuscules.” This created a theoretical and strategic void that was filled with “a diffuse, peripatetic conspiracist view of the world” that understood historical change as driven by CIA skullduggery rather than the class struggle or inter-imperialist rivalry.
