This article about the middle class is cogent but as we transit to a post-growth economy we need to consider a different way to reconstruct the middle class: our distinction of universal and working class is a way to do that as the working class is transformed into a new kind of middle class. The universal class is a way to conceptually unify the middle and working class in the context of postcapitalism. Although the focus on the working class is the key conceptual nexus of the passage to communism, it is useful to consider/multitask the multiple components of class diversity with a view to cultural unity.
